Your position

Both positions can start immediately, or as soon as possible. Topic of the research project is the synthesis of a family of new NMR spin labels for the conjugation to RNA molecules and subsequent structure elucidation and / or interaction studies. The project is a collaboration with the group of Prof. Ch. Kreutz at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, who will contribute the RNA constructs. Regular exchange with our partners in Austria, including visits in Innsbruck will be part of the project.
Each PhD will synthesize a specific set of spin labels (one based on DOTA-M8 and the other one based on DOTA-M7 lanthanoid chelates) and attach them to different RNA constructs. Both positions require sophisticated organic and inorganic synthesis techniques and the willingness to learn advanced multidimensional NMR methods. High field NMR spectrometer (600 – 900 MHz) are available for these experiments.
