The chair for Planning of Landscape and Urban Systems (PLUS) at the Institute for Spatial and Landscape Development (IRL) at ETH Zürich is looking for an assistant in the web development of the spatial decision support system Raum+ by October 2021.


Project background

Raum+ is a methodology to assess inward development potentials in the settlement area. The data is gathered, displayed and processed in a web based platform accessible to the stakeholders, including several swiss cantons. The development of the platform is done in close cooperation with these stakeholders and an open-source mindset.

Job description

We are looking for a team member to assist us mainly in the frontend development and maintanance of the platform. Tasks include:

  • Developing new features and improving existing features
  • Finding and fixing bugs and errors
  • Maintaining the packages and frameworks

We offer a high degree of flexibility and anticipate an average workload of 8 hours per week. Salary is determined by the ETH student assistant rate.


Your profile

Required skills include good knowledge and experience with JavaScript and good English language skills. Ideally you have experience with the React library as well as Redux and React Router. An ongoing immatriculation as a student is a must.

Additionalskills include:

  • Python and the Django web framework
  • Git and collaborative development
  • Openlayers, Geoserver and Mapproxy
  • Shibboleth authentication protocols
  • Experience managing Linux operating systems
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
