The Social Networks Lab develops an R package to analyse and model temporal social networks, such as calls, interactions on social media, and so forth.

Student assistant (20%) for Network Data analysis

Your main duties and responsibilities would include the development and testing of new functionalities for this package as well as the analysis of some real datasets. Our current projects involve the study of football passes between players during a match and the exploration of following ties in a social media website. This position is a unique opportunity for you to develop your knowledge in statistical analysis, modelling, and coding, all this within a highly interdisciplinary, international and friendly research environment. During the semester, working hours are subject to a regulatory maximum of 15 hours per week.

The ideal candidate is a student at ETH Zurich or University of Zurich and has experience with coding, in particular with R or some similar language. Moreover, good knowledge on statistics, data science and software architecture is desired. He/she should be highly organized, show attention to detail, and have strong communications skills and proficiency in English.
