Postdoctoral (remote) position in Computational Microbiology 100

Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The research group “Pulmonary Infection Biology” at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel, Switzerland (https://biomedizin.unibas.ch/en/research/research-groups/boeck-lab/ ) is looking for a postdoc. She/he will lead the computational applications and strategies of the group, specifically the analyses of a novel large-scale imaging platform assessing bacterial behaviour at a single cell level.

Project
Drug resistance measures (MICs), despite poorly associated with treatment success in chronic pulmonary infections, are the main tools for drug development and guiding treatment decisions. We aim to identify new bacterial phenotypes (e.g. drug tolerance) predicting clinical outcome in non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung infections. By combining clinical data and isolates with whole genome sequencing, proteomics and new large-scale phenotyping and genome editing (CRISPR) approaches we aim to understand their underlying molecular mechanisms and aim for novel drug targets. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.10.18.464689v1
