We seek to fill a postdoctoral position in our research group for a research project on soft ionization mass spectrometry for studying noncovalent complexes in the gas phase. 


Job description

Our methodologies include native electrospray ionization (ESI), ESI-MS titration and competition methods, temperature programmed ESI-MS, ion mobility spectroscopy, gas-phase fluorescence based methods, and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry assisted by high-mass detection and chemical cross-linking. Systems of particular interest are protein-ligand complexes including systems with cofactors and multiple ligand binding sites, multi-protein complexes, membrane-bound proteins and protein complexes, as well as DNA and RNA assemblies. At ETH Zurich, there are many interesting options for interdisciplinary collaborations.

Starting date: earliest 1.1.2021 or upon mutual agreement.


Your profile
  • Ph.D. degree in chemistry or biochemistry
  • Strong background in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, methods development and MS instrumentation
  • Fluency in one of the Swiss official languages or English fluency at first language level
