Your mission :
Our laboratory uses systems approaches to map the signaling networks that govern mitochondrial function and as such regulate organismal metabolism in health, aging and disease. We apply a state-of-the-art biological toolkit to study a variety of model systems, ranging from the nematode C. elegans and the mouse all the way to humans. The translational value of our work is testified by our successful collaboration with the biopharmaceutical industry and by the fact that several drugs targeting pathways which we elucidated are currently used in the clinic.

The proposed postdoctoral project is targeted to understand the role of NAD+ and mitochondrial homeostasis in the development of kidney diseases and goes along two axes:
In the primary project, a systems genetics approach in a mouse genetic reference population will be applied to map novel genes and genetic networks that regulate NAD+ homeostasis and mitochondrial function in the setting of kidney disease.
The secondary project is aimed to uncover the translational potential of novel NAD+ boosters in the setting of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease, working in close collaboration with pharmaceutical industry. Overall, the project involves a well-balanced mix of animal work, wet lab biology and in silico approaches to study driving factors of kidney diseases.
Your profile :
We seek a highly motivated candidate with doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or MD) and expertise in metabolic research and mouse experimentation. Previous experience working in the mitochondrial field and/or kidney physiology is a plus. Furthermore, candidates should be highly motivated to learn computational techniques.
