100%, Zurich, fixed-term

From January 2021, the Molecular Oncology Lab, headed by Prof. Nicola Aceto, is located at the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences of the Department of Biology (D-BIOL) within the ETH Hönggerberg campus, the Life Science Campus of ETH Zurich, and comprise a team of dedicated scientists and collaborators across different clinics and pharmaceutical companies.

Project background

The group of PD Dr. Werner Kovacs (http://publicationslist.org/werner.kovacs ) combines a wide variety of disciplines to answer outstanding questions in cancer research, with a particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of HIF-2a-mediated pexophagy and the role of peroxisomes in tumorigenesis and metastasis. Investigations will range from the study of the mechanisms of HIF-2a-mediated pexophagy, screens to identify regulators of HIF-2a-mediated pexophagy and therapeutic candidates for clear cell renal cell carcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma, and the role of altered peroxisome abundance in metabolic reprogramming and tumor growth. These studies will involve the application of state-of-the art genomics, biochemical/cell/ molecular biological and screening technologies and the use of mouse models of cancer. The position offers excellent scientific opportunities in a highly stimulating and interdisciplinary environment involving close interactions between scientists from different disciplines.
