Research field

Our overall research in this field focuses to investigate tumor progression over time within the colon epithelium bearing defined oncogenic driver mutations. We aim to understand how this influences the TME to establish an immune suppressive environment allowing for the transition of colonic lesions from benign to a malignant state. The postdoctoral candidate will be using single cell analysis of various genetically engineered mouse models combined with transplantation experiments of colon tumoroids, complemented with human correlative data.

Candidate Profile

The candidate should hold or expect to be awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in medical, biomedical or natural sciences. Applicants should have a strong scientific track record in cancer biology and immunology with at least one publication as first author in a high quality, peer reviewed journal. Preferred skills and experience include standard molecular biology techniques, in vivo cancer animal models, organoid cultures and flow cytometry techniques. Experience in single-cell RNA-seq analysis, including raw data handling and downstream analysis, are a desirable asset.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in basic and translational cancer research. Good communication and organizational skills are required. We expect a strong interest in the field of CRC research, the ability to independently develop and drive a research project and to establish collaborations. A good command of the English language (written and spoken) is a prerequisite.

We offer

The candidate will be working in a multidisciplinary, friendly and supportive environment of an international team. Our group members have access to a comprehensive range of facilities and technology platforms established on the EPFL campus. The candidate will have the opportunity to actively lead and shape the development of the project and the possibility to mentor students.

Interested candidates should send the following documents in PDF format

  • Motivation letter stating your background, interest in our research and your future research plans
  • Curriculum vitae, publication lists and copies of certificates (PhD, MD, MD-PhD)
  • Contact of two references
