Postdoc position in Optical Neurophysiology

The Patriarchi lab is searching for a highly motivated, ambitious and talented postdoctoral fellow with expertise in electrophysiology/optogenetics and in vivo fiber photometry imaging (mice).

In the project, novel genetically encoded fluorescent sensors for neuromodulators [see: Patriarchi et al Science (2018) 360 (6396); Patriarchi et al Nat Protoc (2019) 14:3471-3505; Patriarchi et al Nat Methods (2020)] and transgenic mouse lines will be combined with slice electrophysiology/optogenetics, as well as in vivo imaging techniques (single and multi-fiber photometry) to validate and guide the optimization of novel biosensors and use them to investigate neuromodulatory functions in the mouse central nervous system.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g. neuroscience, physiology), a background in slice electrophysiology/optogenetics and in vivo photometry imaging in mice, and a strong track record of accomplishments (evidenced by first or co-author publications in the respective field). Furthermore, candidates are expected to be able to work independently and in teams, and have excellent English written and oral communication skills. Prior experience with the combined use of genetically encoded optical sensors and actuators will be considered an asset.

The appointment is initially for 1 year with the possibility of extension of up to 5 years, based on performance. The working language is English, knowledge of German is not required.
