Postdoc & PhD student position in Immunology

The Finke laboratory (https://biomedizin.unibas.ch/en/research/research-groups/finke-lab/ ) is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate and an early postdoctoral researcher to investigate tissue-specific immune function of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) in health and disease. The successful candidate will focus on delineating the role of MHCII+ ILC3 in regulating memory CD4 T cell responses using mouse infection models (see also: Nature communications, 11, 1794. doi: 10.1038/s41467-020-15612-2.) and join an enthusiastic team of scientists who are curious to understand ILC3 development and tissue-specific immune responses. The candidate's research on ILC-centred immunoregulatory networks and ILC interactions with other immune cells will make use of state-of-the-art facilities of the Department of Biomedicine (flow and mass cytometry, genomic, proteomic, light microscopy, bioinformatics, etc.), and take advantage of the open collaborative environment of the Department.

We are seeking to hire a PhD student with

  • a master's degree in biology or immunology
  • a practical and theoretical background in immunology
  • basic experience in flow cytometry and animal experimentation are a plus
  • passionate about biology and immunology
  • the ability to work independently
  • excellent communication skills
  • excellent knowledge in English language (spoken and written / proficiency level)

We are looking for candidates with

  • a doctoral degree (PhD) in immunology or related fields
  • extended experience in flow cytometry and in vivo mouse models
  • experience with infectious models is a plus
  • the ability to deliver high quality research, data, and to publish in peer reviewed journals
  • the ability to communicate and present effectively in spoken and written English
  • the ability to work independently and as part of an international team
  • the ability to initiate, plan, implement and reach milestones
