The Center for Law & Economics at the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences, invites applications for a PhD student positions in law, economics, and data science.

The initial appointment will be for one year with expected renewal for three more years. Salary is competitive and paid according to ETH standards .


Job description

Our research groupemploys quantitative methods to study institutions, laws, public policy, and political behaviour. The research of the Center for Law & Economics offers the opportunity to work on important topics of law, economics and data science in a dynamic and collaborative research environment. This includes data prep and cleaning, analyzing economic models, running regressions and performing other empirical analysis, and building machine learning and natural language processing models.

Your profile

You will have, at the time of appointment, completed a Master's degree in Economics, Data Science, or related fields, with a strong focus on Applied Statistics, Natural Language Processing, and/or Machine Learning. A strong command of Python and/or Stata is required. A substantive interest in law or political economy is desirable. All work-related interactions are in English and excellent English writing skills are essential.
