Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 10 Jan 2022

The laboratory of Georg Keller at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) in Basel, Switzerland is looking for a PhD candidate or postdoctoral fellow.

We are recruiting a researcher (on a PhD or postdoctoral position) to strengthen our team working on viral vector engineering. We are a systems neuroscience lab (www.fmi.ch/keller.g ) and engineer viral vectors for cell-type targeted gene delivery in cortex.

We modify viral vectors (based mainly on adeno associated and rabies viruses) and engineer artificial promoter sequences to deliver transgenes of interest to functionally identified neurons in cortex. We screen these vectors in both mice and primates.

Candidates holding a Master’s or PhD degree in Life Sciences ideally with a strong background in promoter or vector engineering are encouraged to apply. Fluency in English both written and oral is mandatory.

The FMI - affiliated with the University of Basel and the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research - is a world-class biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of health and disease. The FMI is also committed to the training of young scientists. It is based in the vibrant city of Basel, Switzerland, which offers an exceptional scientific and cultural environment.
