100%, Zurich, fixed-term

The European Politics group in the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS) at ETH Zurich invites applications for several PhD positions and postdoctoral research positions for 4-5 years.

Project background

The positions are part of the ERC-funded research project on 'Bordering Europe: Boundary Formation in European integration (EUROBORD)' directed by Prof. Frank Schimmelfennig. The project analyses the historical development of the EU's external borders, the effects of boundary configurations and transactions on the political performance of the EU and its member states, the domestic politicization of external boundaries, and negotiations and decision-making on border policies. It combines macroquantitative analysis, natural-language processing and case studies of border policy in a variety of issue areas.
