The Department of Biomedicine (DBM) Histology Core Facility (HCF) has been founded in 2019, to support the DBM research activities in the specific field of histology.
The Facility is located at the Basel University Anatomy Institute, in Pestalozzistrasse 20.
The primary mission of the HCF is to support scientists at the DBM in establishing and executing histology experiments.

Since 2019, the HCF of the DBM supports the MATAO international, phase III clinical trial, for the Swiss GO Trial Group with the following functions:
• Trial sample logistical coordination
• Centralized IHC service for all the trial sites
• IHC slides digitalization and analysis
• Biobanking
• Communication with international reference pathologist team in respect to coordination of reference pathologist services in relation to the MATAO trial.
• Data reporting and annotation
• Quality management and SOP handling
The Facility complies with the GCLP standards for the execution of those activities.
