The Chair of Wood Materials Science at the Institute for Building Materials at ETH Zurich has an opening for a Group leader position in the field of wood electronics.
Scientific framework of this position is to utilize wood-derived materials as hierarchical scaffolds for embedding functionality and develop renewable conductive materials that allow for harvesting/storing energy or work as active sensors or responsive materials. Main application field of such smart wood materials should be the building sector to achieve enhanced energy control systems and functionality for living comfort based on ecofriendly and carbon-neutral engineering materials.
Prospective applicants hold a PhD in electronics, materials science or a related discipline and have worked as a postdoc in a related field for 1-3 years. A strong background in soft electronics is desirable. The candidate is expected to be fluent in English and to have a very good publication record as well as experience in proposal writing. The successful candidate shows enthusiasm for leading a research team embedded in the professorship and strives for scientific excellence combined with application relevance. The position is available with starting dates as soon as possible.
