The department of Computer Science and Engineering is a fully integrated department with the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology as principals. The department offer courses in a broad range of subjects. During the spring semester the department offers around seventy courses on BSc- and MSc-level. Student involvement is an important part in this work.

The department is now looking for student assistants for the spring semester of 2022 to work with courses within the field of Interaction Design.


Job assignments

As a student assistant, you will work with helping and supporting teachers with practical elements in the different courses. This could for example be lab and exercise tutoring and help with lab and exam grading. You will have regular contact with the teachers about which elements and practical moments you can be of help within.

The specific courses for the spring semester of 2022 in the field of Interaction Design are listed below. If not specified differently, the courses are held in English and at campus Lindholmen.

We are also looking for a Studio Manager

As Studio Manager you are responsible for practical issues regarding the IxD Studio that the division for Interaction Design have. The primary tasks include being the contact person to the students, identifying issues that need to be handled, and work together with the teacher from Interaction Design that has responsibilities for the studios. Of special importance is the task of instructing new students about the safety regulations regarding the two workshops that are part of the studios.


Qualifications

To be qualified for the position you are an active student at bachelor or master level, preferably studying in one of the institution’s BSc or MSc level programmes at the University of Gothenburg or Chalmers University of Technology. You should have completed relevant education at university level which is pertinent for the task. To be qualified for the position you should have good knowledge in the language used in the courses you apply for, that is, English and/or Swedish, both spoken and written. To be qualified as student assistant for a course you should have passed either the same or a similar course. To be able to qualify as student assistant you will need to be in Gothenburg, Sweden and be able to participate in activities at campus Johanneberg or campus Lindholmen.

It is a merit to have completed related continuation courses. It is also a merit if you have experience of teaching and are skilled in instructing and helping people in a pedagogical way. It is a particularly strong merit if you have recently worked as a student assistant in the courses you want to assist, or similar courses.

Additional information

This is an intermittent employment where you as student assistant are paid for the hours you work. The remuneration level is according to our regulations and will be paid per hour in arrears. The number of working hours is individually set in a dialogue with the responsible teacher and director of studies. Since the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a joint department the employment can be placed at the University of Gothenburg or the Chalmers University of Technology.
