Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

This is a unique opportunity to work with and solve clinically relevant questions in a well-funded research group with close ties to Karolinska University Hospital. In our research group, we conduct translational immunological research with a clear focus on the patient.

Division

The Center for Hematology and Regenerative medicine, HERM, is a research unit within the Department of Medicine Huddinge with a focus on translational hematology and immunology. HERM is located in the NEO building and consists of a mix of clinical and preclinical research groups, each with a focus on clinically relevant questions in hematology, stem cell biology and immunology, including basic immunology, immunodeficiency and transfusion immunology.

Duties

Your will work in a team together with Dr Roland Fiskesund in Professor Petter Höglund’s research group. You will be working with routine cell- and molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry, cell culture and PCR. We also have upcoming projects that involve studying single cell proteomics and transcriptomics in hematopoietic stem cells using the 10X platform. Bioinformatics experience is not mandatory, but it is a merit.

Our research group has close ties to the Department of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital, where both Dr Fiskesund and Professor Höglund are physicians. We strive to apply cutting edge immunological methodologies to study and solve clinically relevant problems. Our goal is to improve cell-based therapies at the hospital, including transfusion of blood components and stem cell transplantations. Our projects are of a translational character and results can generally be quickly implemented in the clinic.

Your main responsibility will be to develop and conduct independent research projects at the postdoctoral level within the line of ongoing research in the group. The candidate is expected to provide expertise and constructive collaborative efforts into ongoing projects.

Entry requirements

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
