Postdoctoral researcher position in Galaxy Evolution

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the study of galaxy formation and evolution at the Department of Space, Earth and Environment, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. The starting data is flexible, though preferably spring 2022.

Information about the research and the division
As the successful candidate you will join the research group of Professor Kirsten K. Knudsen. The research is on high-redshift starburst/AGN and galaxy formation and evolution with focus on observational studies using mm-wave/radio instruments such as ALMA, JVLA, and APEX.

You will work in the 'Astronomy and Plasma Physics ' division, which has a wide range of astronomy topics from exoplanets to high-redshift galaxies. The department hosts the Swedish National Facility for Radio Astronomy, which is also the location of the Nordic ALMA Regional Center Node.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform research on galaxy evolution in the research team of Professor Kirsten K. Knudsen. The position also includes some possibility for involvement in supervising master's and/or PhD students.

Qualifications
You should have a PhD, preferably in astronomy, by the start of the appointment. You should demonstrate potential for research in extragalactic astronomy and the topic of galaxy formation and evolution. Experience in mm/submm/radio interferometry would be an asset. The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. If you do not speak Swedish, we encourage you to learn, and Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is initially for two years.
