The Department of Physics is looking for a postdoc to join the research group ”The Organic Photonics and Electronics Group”, where we work on design, produce and develop photonic and electronic devices based on emerging organic semiconductors. This two-year full-time position is funded by Bertil & Britt Svensson's foundation for lighting technology.
Application deadline is January 15, 2022.
Project description
This postdoctoral work is part of the project ‘‘Towards Environmental-Friendly Lighting Applications: The Development of Bio-based and Non-Toxic Emissive Materials’’. In this project, we propose to design and synthesis sustainable and high-luminance emissive materials from natural raw materials, to replace the non-sustainable incumbents in the light-emitting devices; we will integrate these sustainable emissive materials into a benign-solvent-processed light-emitting electrochemical cell, to realize resource- and energy-efficient lighting applications.
The primary task within the project constitutes the design, synthesis and characterization of environmental-friendly and bio-derived emissive materials in the form of nanoparticles or quantum dots. The synthesized emissive materials will be implemented as the active compound in light-emitting electrochemical cells and photovoltaic devices, and a second task in the project, therefore, constitutes device fabrication and characterization, where the fabrication methods include spin-coating, thermal vacuum deposition, and spray-coating.
The position is two-year full-time employment that will open in April 2022 (exact date according to agreement).
Qualifications
A person who has been awarded a doctorate or a foreign qualification deemed to be the equivalent of a doctorate qualifies as a postdoctoral fellow. Priority should be given to candidates who have completed their doctoral degree no more than three years before the closing date of the application. A candidate who has completed their degree prior to this may be considered if special circumstances exist. Special circumstances include absence due to illness, parental leave or clinical practice, appointments of trust in trade unions or similar circumstances.
We are looking for a highly motivated and responsible candidate who is passionate about developing as an individual scientist as well as a research team member. Required qualifications are:
· A PhD degree, or a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent, in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or relevant field
· Documented experience with the synthesis of organic/inorganic/hybrid semiconductor, particularly the synthesis experience of nanoparticles or quantum dots,
· Documented experience with material characterization using, e.g., atomic force microscope,
X-ray diffraction, and vibrational spectroscopy,
· good skills in both written and spoken English are essential.
Meriting qualifications are:
· General skills regarding production or characterization of optoelectronic devices,
· General skills in the manufacture and characterization of optoelectronic devices, e.g. spin coating, physical vapor deposition, or spray coating,
Application
The application should include:
1. A cover letter summarizing your qualifications, your scientific interests, and your motives for applying (max 2 pages),
2. A curriculum vitae (CV),
3. A publication list,
4. Certified copies of relevant degree certificates,
5. Copies of the PhD thesis and relevant publications,
At the time of a possible interview two references will be requested.
