The Department carries out research, teaching and dissemination of information on forest management in southern Sweden. The research is focused on subjects particularly relevant to southern Sweden, such as the silviculture of deciduous and mixed forests, alternatives to spruce, management of forests with extensive butt-rot, high quality production on fertile sites, damage caused by native and invasive forest pests and pathogens, and competition between ground vegetation and tree seedlings. The research is carried out in close co-operation with the forest industry and other stakeholders in society. We also perform teaching at bachelor, master’s programs and PhD level courses addressing all of these subject areas.

This understanding is critical for sustaining future biomass supply and understand stand development. The successful candidate will as part of a postdoc position conduct research how management systems and climate change influences production, economy and biomass quality. The project will focus on understand how different management systems influences competition between trees within a plantation, and the effect on climate change. The project will also have a focus on understanding how site conditions influences biomass production. For this research, we will use existing data that will be complemented with new measurements with in the project.
