Division

Do you want to contribute as a post-doctoral researcher analyzing machine-learning approaches to detect and diagnose breast cancer in radiological images? We have established a national platform for validating and evaluating the accuracy and reliability of AI algorithms in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer based on mammography images. The goal is to facilitate a safe and optimized introduction of AI methods in mammography and breast cancer care. Our research group is part of the Department of Oncology and Pathology at Karolinska Institutet, and the research leader Fredrik Strand is a breast radiologist at Karolinska University Hospital.

Duties

We have internationally well-established research for the development and evaluation of AI for radiological breast cancer diagnosis. Our group has expertise in radiology, biostatistics and machine learning. In addition, we have a strong collaboration with research groups at KTH. Our international collaborations include the University of California San Francisco and Berkeley.

We are now looking for a post-doctoral researcher to analyze the screening accuracy of a panel of AI algorithms for screening mammography.

Entry requirements

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.

You will be responsible for performing statistical analyzes regarding the accuracy of the AI algorithms compared to registered cancer diagnoses and compared with the radiologists' assessments.

You should have:

  • - a medical doctor degree and a PhD degree
  • - some clinical work experience as a medical doctor
  • - be a resident or registrar in radiology
  • - written advanced scripts to perform statistical analyzes in R
