Ming Wai Lau Centre for Reparative Medicine (MWLC) aims to contribute to the improvement of human health by conducting cutting-edge research in reparative medicine and related subjects, by creating a new platform for synergies between academia and innovation in Sweden and Hong Kong as well as China, and fostering future leaders in both academia and industry.
Description of the research group and project
Dr. Zongli Zheng’s group has long interests in technology innovation to solve problems in the clinic. Some of our technologies have been adopted globally in both research and clinical settings for precision medicine and for CRISPR genome editing. We are interested in integrating single-cell genomics and CRISPR genome editing to understand diseases and to identify biomarkers and therapeutics targets. Companion new data algorithm and software development are natural parts of these developments.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team and work on projects on protein engineering involving single-cell genomics and CRISPR genome editing.
Responsibility and requirements
The position will be based in the inspiring environment in Hong Kong Science Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading new technology development that integrates wet lab methods and data algorithms, data collection and manuscript writing. Specific requirements include:
- A PhD degree or equivalent in molecular cell biology;
- Experience in screening and directed evolution of proteins, CRISPR genome editing, and in single-cell genomics;
- Experience in cancer research involving large-scale next-generation sequencing data analysis and CRISPR genome editing, with a proven record of publications;
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
This is a two-year full-time position, with the possibility of renewal.
The assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.
A competitive remuneration package including 10% on top of basic salary (fully-taxable) intended as pension will be offered in addition to MPF employer’s contribution and medical benefits.
At KI the Postdoctoral researcher position is regarded as an early career step after a doctoral degree. Qualified to be employed as a Postdoctoral researcher is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.
To be qualified for this position, a doctorate in molecular cell biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, data science or relevant fields is required.
