We are looking for a PhD student in CVD growth of diffusion tight high temperature coatings on graphite.

Your work assignments

Future electronic demands new materials, do you want to join us in this challenge?

Semiconductors are the foundation for all electronics. New wide bandgap semiconductors are emerging on the market and are today used in everything from telecommunication, radars and electrical vehicles. To grow these semiconductors, and next generation semiconductors, new coating materials are needed inside the tools where semiconductors are grown. You task is to develop next generation diffusion tight high temperature coatings on graphite. You will characterize and understand these materials, how they are synthesized and what properties they have. For example, its structure, ability to resist corrosive gases, combability to different semiconductors and its diffusion properties. For your work you will have access to a CVD machine and grow different types of coatings. For characterization you will have access to different tools such as X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy etc.

This work is in performed in cooperation with an industrial partner. You will see a clear connection between your research and future applications where both scientific publications and patents are important.

As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

Your qualifications
