Description

The Department of Community Medicine and Rehabilitation, the unit of Occupational Therapy is looking for a PhD student in medical science, with a focus on occupational therapy. Admission as soon as possible or by agreement.

As a PhD student, you will be part of an interdisciplinary research group with a focus on combined physical and cognitive exercise for older people to promote physical and cognitive function and prevent falls. 

The PhD student position involves full-time education for four years. As a doctoral student, you are part of a doctoral education program at the Faculty of Medicine at Umeå University together with all doctoral students at the faculty irrespective of profession. Together with the research group, you will primarily work with planning and carrying out research within the project, with an emphasis on data collection, analysis, and reporting of results. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods are used in the project. Teaching may be included in the doctoral position. At most, teaching can amount to 20% over the entire four-year period, and if included, the doctoral period is extended proportional to the amount of teaching. The position is stationed in Umeå.


Qualifications

Certified occupational therapist, comprising 240 ECTS credits. The assessment of eligible applicants is based on the applicant's merits and their pre-requisites to fulfil the post-graduate education. In order to be admitted to doctoral studies, the applicant must have 1) necessary knowledge verified by a university higher education exam; 2) experience that related to the relevant research area; 3) necessary English language skills, both written and oral. Previous knowledge and experience of the target population is a merit.
