LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY
Hereby advertises a position as

PhD student in Materials science and Thin Film Physics
formally based at the unit of Nano Materials Science at the division of Thin Film Physics, IFM

Duties
The work aims at developing a thin film synthesis process for conformal thin films of boron carbide by Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD). The project involves development of new synthesis routes for growth of the material with high conformity onto nano-patterned surfaces with distinct topography. The duties include development of the CVD process as well as its theoretical understanding and measurements of the physical properties of the thin films. The work as a PhD student involves independent work, under qualified supervision and in collaboration with the researchers at the division, to develop the research topic.

Qualifications
You should hold a Master of Science (or corresponding university education) in physics, Chemistry, or materials science. Documented experience of thin film synthesis by CVD and materials charachterization by the techniques XRD, SEM, TEM, and ion beam analysis are particularly considered as merits for this position.

Qualified to PhD studentships are only those who are or have been admitted to graduate studies.

Appointment time
The appointment will be until further notice for a maximum of one year at a time. A doctoral student may not be employed during a period exceeding eight years. The total time of appointment must not exceed the equivalent of four years´ full time research training.
