The Industrial Marketing unit has an important role in all the university's business programs and in the MSc program in Industrial Management and Engineering. To support our research in the long term, we are now looking for a PhD student who wants to work with creative and analytical problem solving, often in collaboration with organizations and companies.

Description of the research subject
Industrial Marketing involves activities and processes for creating, communicating, and delivering value to customers and other stakeholders. This includes marketing of goods, services, and information between organizations and their customers. Marketing across international borders and in digital channels are areas of particular importance for the subject, as well as services marketing, tourism, and branding.

Duties
A doctoral position involves both theoretical and practical work. As a researcher, you work as a neutral party in many contexts, which provides a great opportunity to learn how to run long-term and challenging projects, from problem formulation to final reporting. The PhD student is trained in scientific work in the form of publishing scientific articles in journals and at international conferences. A PhD student also studies third-cycle (research) courses, both general courses on topics such as scientific method and project management, and courses in the research area of marketing. In addition, you will have the opportunity to try out the teacher role by teaching some of the courses given in the business programs or industrial management. You will be part of a group of researchers, teachers, and PhD students in Industrial Marketing.

Qualifications
The general entry requirements for doctoral (third-cycle) studies are as follows: a completed degree at the Master’s (second-cycle) level with completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 second-cycle credits. Alternatively, equivalent knowledge has been acquired in some other way within or outside the country. In addition to the general entry requirements, knowledge in business administration or industrial management with a focus on marketing or a related subject is required.

The applicant should be thorough, analytical, and have good communication skills. It is important that you can cooperate in a team but also work independently. Scientific publications and presentations are carried out in English; therefore, applicants must be able to express themselves fluently in English both in writing and orally. Teaching in English can also be part of the job duties. Furthermore, it is desirable that you are fluent in spoken and written Swedish so that you can teach courses that are given in Swedish.

Previous experience of working with scientific publication and/or teaching is qualifying. Work experience in marketing, sales, purchasing, project management etc. is also considered a merit.

Further information
Employment as a PhD student is limited to 4 years, teaching and other department duties may be added with max 20%. Start date by agreement. The position is located at the Department of Social Sciences, Technology and Arts at the university's campus in Luleå.
