We are looking for a PhD student in Construction logistics.


Your work assignments

The construction industry stand for about 40% of the energy use and one third of the CO2 emissions globally. One major ocntributor are the construction transports and especially related to soil and rock masses. To decrease transport emissions and increase circularity of these materials we need to develop new logistics setups among contractors and transporters and improve policy and planning among municipalities and developers. You will work in a for Sweden unique project, where you as a PhD student are provided the opportunity to develop new prerequisites for soil and rock mass logistics.

The project is financed by Swedish Transport Administration via Triple F. The work requires a collaboration between different research disciplines, such as urban planning and logisitcs. Several actors such as municipalities, developers and contractors are taking part in the project and will provide opportunities for field work and collaboration.

As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.


Your qualifications

You have graduated at Master’s level logistics, civil engineering or urban planning or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced course. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way.s. Earlier experiences of logistics, urban planning or transport management will be meriting.

English and Swedish both written and spoken.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability


Your workplace

You will work at the Department of Science and Technology, division of Communication and transport system that carries out research, undergraduate and postgraduate eduction within logistics and transport management. You will also work 50% of your time with VTI, The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute.


The employment

When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available at Doctoral studies at Linköping University

The employment has a duration of four years’ full-time equivalent. You will initially be employed for a period of one year. The employment will subsequently be renewed for periods of maximum duration two years, depending on your progress through the study plan. The employment may be extended up to a maximum of five years, based on the amount of teaching and departmental duties you have carried out. Further extensions can be granted in special circumstances.

Starting date by agreement.

The salary of PhD students is determined according to a locally negotiated salary progression.
