The central aim of this project is the development of a novel paramagnetic NMR technique to support rational drug development by rapid determination of the bound conformation and the binding site of bioactive substances in solution. The work will include the design of paramagnetic tags, of synthetic routes for paramagnetic tagging of bioactive substances, NMR method development, and structure calculations. The project will involve collaboration with industry as well as with Swedish and international research groups, and will provide training in synthetic organic chemistry, NMR spectroscopy and medicinal chemistry.
