Offer Description

Those who are employed as a doctoral student must primarily devote themselves to their own education. The project and the research environment will give the student the opportunity to train as a first-class researcher. In the project, we will investigate the role of bacterial secreted effector molecules in host pathogenesis and their potential use as a therapeutics for the treatment of colon cancer. We will also study the cellular mechanisms involved in bacterial pore-forming proteins interaction with the mammalian host cells and the environmental predator, Acanthamoeba castellanii. The project involves working with mammalian cell cultures, human intestinal organoids, model organisms such as Acanthamoeba castellanii, bacterial pathogens, bacterial genetics, high-throughput image screening, use of biophysical and biochemical techniques, and advanced microscopy techniques.
