School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry,Biotechnology and Health at KTH
KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.
Project description
Third-cycle subject: Gene Technology
We will develop an imaging technique based on information gathered by interactions of DNA molecules and transmitted using high throughput sequencing instead of classical optics. The project will be conducted in the Gene Technology department at SciLifeLab, a vibrant and creative community with a collaborative atmosphere. This multidisciplinary project will involve experimental wet-lab work including DNA sequencing, chemical/material fabrication, and molecular biology techniques. A significant portion of the project will involve a computational side as well, including programming for big data/bioinformatics and mathematics e.g. graph theory. For more information see: Hoffecker-lab
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Ian Hoffecker, Afshin Ahmadian
