PhD position in Biochemistry at I2BC (Paris area, France) H/F

Updated: 2 months ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 09 Aug 2021

The PhD student will work at the Institute for Integrative Biology of Cell (I2BC) in the team "Cytoskeleton dynamics and motility" located in building 34 of the CNRS campus of Gif-sur-Yvette under the supervision of Christophe LE CLAINCHE. The team studies the molecular aspects of the actin cytoskeleton.

Our team studies cytoskeleton-associated machineries that produce and sense force during a variety of cellular functions, including adhesion and migration.
The PhD candidate will study mechanosensitive actin-binding proteins involved in cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion during collective migration. To this aim, he/she will adapt the microscopy assay that we developed to reconstitute actomyosin-dependent mechanosensitive machineries with purified proteins on micropatterned surfaces (Vigouroux et al. 2021 Nature Commun; Ciobanasu et al. 2015 Nature Protoc; Ciobanasu et al. 2014 Nature Commun). He/she will also combine kinetic assays in fluorescence spectroscopy and single molecule observation in TIRF microscopy to decipher mechanisms of actin assembly.
