Two postdoc positions to analyze the ImpactT2D whole genome sequence cohort

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Deadline: 25 May 2022

The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research ' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role

We invite applications for two highly motivated postdoctoral scientists to form part of a team that analyzes whole genome sequences in a large cohort of patients with type 2 diabetes. One successful candidate will develop statistical models to incriminate rare and common genetic variants in diabetes susceptibility. The other scientist will focus on developing methods to characterize small and large genome variants in this cohort. Both will work in a multicenter, multidisciplinary team named named ImpactT2D, which was recently funded by a Spanish Precision Medicine Initiative launched by the Carlos III Institute of Health. ImpactT2D aims to develop transformative approaches for personalized medicine in type 2 diabetes.

The scientists will be based in the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), Barcelona, in the Regulatory Genomics and Diabetes lab (Ferrer, Bonas-Guarch) jointly with the European Genome-phenome Archive /Universitat Pompeu Fabra team led by Navarro and Rambla. Both postdoctoral scientists will work in a broader group of analysis teams from CRG, CNAG, European Genome-phenome Archive, CIC BioGune, and Universidad de Murcia, with expertise covering diverse areas such as genome sequence analysis, statistical genetics, machine learning or regulatory genomics. The ImpactT2D consortium is also composed of outstanding clinical research centers across Spain.
