The Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR) is a joint center of Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM) and CSIC. This institution has long term expertise in researching on control, AI and robotic. Nowadays, one of the research pillar is focused on industrial cyber-physical systems, intelligent systems and devices, intelligent automation for highly complex processes, machines and environment with special interest on AI in digitalization challenges.

The Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) is the largest public multidisciplinary research organization in Spain ranked 7th . research institution worldwide. It has a staff of more than 11000 employees. It has considerable experience in both participating and managing R&D projects and training grants. CSIC is in top-5 institutions by number of actions in H2020 programme. CSIC has a proven track record in CPS, AI and Robotics with more than 30 on-going H2020 projects.

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is the oldest and largest Spanish technical university with more than 4.000 faculty members, around 38,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 postgraduates in 21 schools of study. It boasts over 200 Research Units and several Research Institutes and Technological Centres and contributes significantly to the international scientific community with a high number of journal papers, conference communications, and PhD theses. UPM has a proven track record on AI&Robotics technologies.
