The activities of the candidate will include the establishment of a proper correlation between morphological, microstructural and magnetic properties in permanent magnet materials to be used in motor applications. These activities will involve the application of thermal treatments and the study of particles interactions (including the possible combination of different phases) to enhance the permanent magnet properties of the resulting material. For this purpose, and in order to provide a complete characterization, techniques such as magnetometry (VSM), X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy will be used.
