PhD Position in Bioengineering

The International University of Catalonia is a young university which has been in the Catalan system for the last 20 years. The University recently founded the Bioengineering Institute of Technology in order to enhance the research in the field of stem cells and materials science/biomaterials. The Institute is now seeking to expand and aiming to grow in one of the strategic research lines based on the development of novel biomaterial designs for the encapsulation of multiple factors as well as cell delivery systems. The institute has published in the last five years in high impact factor journals such as Progress in Materials Science, Materials Today, Materials Horizons, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Advanced Materials, Advanced Healthcare Materials, Nanomedicine, Acta Biomaterialia and Biomaterials among others.

What we offer

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term contract as Predoctoral fellow at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) in the Sant Cugat Campus in Barcelona. The predoctoral fellow is a three years, counted from the start date for research staff in training, which can be extended to four years through a justified application sent in advance. The research activity will focus on a multidisciplinary project involving the development of novel materials that may provide solutions to regenerate damaged tissues, involving fields such as pharmacy, chemistry, engineering, biology and medicine.

What we are looking for

We are currently seeking a predoctoral fellow with these competences:

  • The candidate must have degree in Biongineering Science, Biomedical engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Biomaterials or related field.
  • A minimum undergraduate that depends on type of undergraduate program (BSc or Eng). For further details, visit the application process website.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a group and is expected to be self-sufficient in laboratory tasks.
  • It is also expected to have the ability to manage Pack Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Good level of English
  • Motivated, organized, and with initiative
