We are offering a postdoc position within the framework of a European Research Council project (ERC-CoG DEEP).
The position is offered at the Dynamic Optical Systems Lab at Universitat de Barcelona (www.ub.edu/dlight ).
The project aims to develop an original non-invasive strategy to focus light inside biological tissue and other scattering media at a high depth and speed while maintaining micrometric spatial confinement. Specifically, by exploiting the deep penetration of ultrasound and its ability to modify the optical properties of a sample locally, we will generate in-situ virtual endoscopes that will act as embedded optical lenses or waveguides inside living tissue, thus redirecting light toward a deeper focus.
The candidate's main task will be to work on ultrasonic-shaping methods and the coupling of light into ultrasonic endoscopes. Some modeling is light-ultrasound interactions is expected. She/he will actively participate in the group activities, present the results at international conferences, write manuscripts and grants, and supervise PhD and master students.
