PhD Student in Computational Systems Biology at CIC bioGUNE

Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 04 Dec 2021

The Computational Biology Group at CIC bioGUNE seeks a highly skilled and motivated PhD student to work on an exciting project that aims at developing a computational framework for modeling inter-cellular interactions to understand the mechanisms of tissue homeostasis and regeneration. In particular, the successful candidate will develop cell-cell interaction models, using network-based computational approaches and single-cell transcriptomics data. Furthermore, the candidate will build data-driven computational models for cell population dynamics and design strategies for cellular reprogramming that will be applied to design novel regenerative medicine strategies in the context of muscle and liver tissues. In this regard, the successful candidate will maintain the CBGs long-standing collaboration track with experimental biologists to validate predictions of the models.

Requirements of the ideal candidate:

  • Msc degree in bioinformatics, biology, computational biology, computer science, engineering, physics or a related discipline
  • Strong computational skills
  • Prior experience in mathematical modelling of biological networks is an asset
  • Excellent working knowledge in English.

We offer:

  • Opportunity to do research into biomedical problems within a highly dynamic research institution (CIC bioGUNE) and in collaboration with an internationally recognized partner
  • An exciting international environment
  • A fully-funded position

Applications should contain the following documents:

  •  A detailed curriculum vitae
  •  A Cover letter
  • Names and addresses of two or three referees.

Applications should be sent to:
