The role
We are looking for a PhD student to join our team and investigate how traits of one individual can be influenced by the genes of their social partners (so-called “indirect genetic effects” or “social genetic effects”, recently discovered in laboratory rodents and humans). Such indirect genetic effects can be mediated by behavioural interactions between individuals or by the exchange of commensal microbes between social partners. The exact project will be chosen together with the selected candidate based on their background and interests, but will be in the broad field of quantitative/statistical/population genetics, be computational in nature and involve advanced statistics and programming.
About the team
Our team is a multidisciplinary team with a love of science. We are pioneering research in the fields of quantitative/statistical/population genetics and in the field of the microbiome. Our research questions are described on our group page: https://www.crg.eu/en/programmes-groups/baud-lab.
Our team is currently composed of two PhD students, a lab manager, an intern and the group leader; it will grow a little over the next year. The team is highly inclusive; we value diversity because it makes research and life richer.
