Título: Holographic Optical Tweezers Bioprinting (HOTB): Towards precise manipulation of cells for multi-scale vascularized tissues/organ printing
Research Line / Scientific-Technical Services: ERC CoG - HOT-BIOPRINTING
Ph.D. open position in the Daniel Nieto’s Lab for the ERC Consolidator project: Holographic Optical Tweezers Bioprinting (HOTB): Towards precise manipulation of cells for multi-scale vascularized tissues/organ printing. The research group in Advanced Biofabrication for Tissue Engineering, led by Daniel Nieto of the University of A Coruña, is looking for a qualified and motivated candidate to study a PhD in bioprinting tissues and organs with multi-scaled vascularization. The candidate must possess an M.Sc. in a discipline relevant to the position (i.e., with a focus on biomedical engineering, biotechnology, biomedicine, biomedical sciences.....). Excellent and proven knowledge of scientific English is required, both in speech, reading and writing. HOT-BIOPRINTING aims to offer a disruptive methodology that enables the manufacture of a new generation of human tissue-like structures with properties that more closely mimic the complexity of biological tissues and organs. The PhD student had used a new 3D Biofabrication (HOTB) system to manipulate, position and bioprint individual/multiple cells with different sizes on a clinically relevant timescale (minutes). It will work to replicate lymph node tissue/organ, including its micro/macro vascularization, following the cell distribution obtained through computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He will perform biological characterization and collaborate on modelling experiments with animals (mice).
Information about the position: This is a full-time and fixed-term work based on the UDC Campus with a short stay (3 months) at the University of Maastricht or the University of Santiago de Compostela. The contract will last for 36 months with a gross salary of 2100 €/month. For additional information on the position, please contact: [email protected]
