Offer Description

1 PhD student position to develop a thesis within the frame of the research project “Challenges for efficient, clean and safe combustion of hydrogen/natural gas blends”. Addressed to Engineers and Physicists who are entitled to enroll in a PhD program at the University of Zaragoza (further details in ‘Requirements’).

We offer:

* Immediate hiring (flexible starting date), via a contract with the University of Zaragoza. 12 months, extendable until starting an official PhD grant.

* Become part of a team with intense R&D activity and collaboration with companies and other research groups.

* Participation in related research activities (e.g., EU Cost Action “Cyber-physical systems and digital twins for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries”).

* Funding for research stays in foreign research centers.

Planned activities for this PhD position include:

  • Experimental characterization of partial- and perfectly-premixed flames of H2 and its blends with natural gas.
  • Analysis of stability issues: flashback and thermo-acoustic instabilities.
  • Development of advanced monitoring and control approaches based on flame sensors and IA techniques, specifically adapted to H2 combustion.
  • Design and evaluation of novel solutions for the clean, efficient and safe combustion of H2 and its blends.
  • Presentation of results at leading scientific journals and conferences.

    • Requirements

  • Engineering or Physics graduates.
  • The candidates must fulfil the requirements to be accepted in a PhD program at the Univ. of Zaragoza. Namely, the applicant must have passed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits in official university studies, with a minimum of 60 credits in MSc.
  • Very good academic record.
  • Good English or Spanish communication skills.
