PhD candidate for developing fraud detection tools in Spanish nuts with high counterfeiting risk

Research tecnician (6 months) + PhD Position for 3-4 years provided the fellow is granted in one of the competitive calls from the Spanish Ministry or the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The PhD will be a part of the TRACENUTS project funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades from Spain. The objective will be the development, evaluation and comparison of suitable methods for the geographical and botanical authentication of Spanish nut species (hazelnut, almond, pine nut), based on stable isotope analysis and metabolic fingerprinting coupled to chemometrics.

The tasks will include:

- Literature review

-Chemical Analysis of samples by general techniques, GC-MS, EA-IRMS, GC-IRMS, HRMS.

-Statistical evaluation of data by univariate and omic techniques

- Presentation of results in international conferences and writting of scientific articles

-Possibility of research stays in foreign institutions
