A predoctoral position (3 years) to work on a translational research project is available in the Neurolinguistics and Aphasia group at Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL). The project is aimed at investigating the recovery of language and other cognitive functions after stroke, with a specific focus on the role of neurofilaments and inflammation markers in predicting behavioral outcomes at the acute, subacute and chronic stage of recovery. The project stems from a collaboration between the Neurolinguistics and Aphasia Group (PI: Dr. Simona Mancini, BCBL) and the Neuroimaging and Biomarkers of Inflammation Lab (PI: Dr. Abraham Martín Muñoz, Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience)

The selected candidate will participate in a longitudinal study that combines clinical parameters, behavioral and neuroimaging data, in collaboration with Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience (Dr. Abraham Martín Muñoz, thesis co-supervisor). His/her work will be focused on the acquisition, processing and analysis of data from brain-damaged and undamaged participants. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in a translational research project where clinical research, neuroimaging and basic research groups collaborate and will be able to develop the doctoral thesis project in the field of cognitive neuroscience of language. In addition, the selected candidate will have access to cutting edge research facilities, including MEG, EEG, fMRI, eye-tracking and psychophysics laboratories.
