EARLY-STAGE RESEARCHER POSITION - Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology

The BIONANOSURF group, a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biotechnologists and physicists working on biomedical applications of nanoparticles, is looking for motivated and enthusiastic early-stage researchers with an excellent academic background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Material Science or related disciplines. We offer a 12-months contract (early-stage; N3 salary scale); extension of the employment is subject to available funding.

The successful candidate will work on the development of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) for biomedical applications. A very interesting feature of magnetic nanoparticles is that they can be remotely activated using external alternating magnetic fields (AMF) and generate heat, which can be used to selectively eliminate cancer cells. The clinical therapy based on magnetic nanoparticle heating is commonly known as magnetic hyperthermia (MHT). Our work addresses some important challenges in the development of MNPs for hyperthermia, from improving the production route to establishing suitable preclinical studies to help translate this promising therapy to the clinic, focusing on the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
