Our group is interested in the study of molecular mechanisms participating in the control of the voluntary movement and cognitive processes in physiological state, and how they are altered in Huntington's disease (HD) in order to identify new therapeutic targets. In addition, we are interested in identifying, at the peripheral level, biomarkers of the neuronal dysfunction that occurs in the brain of HD patients. To perform our studies, we use HD mouse models, in which we analyze behavior by using motor and cognitive tests, and blood, fibroblasts and post-mortem brain samples of control individuals and HD patients.
