Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 31 Jan 2022

The Stable Isotope Biogeochemistry group at the Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra (CSIC-UGR) is focused on stable isotopic traceability of the Earth system (interdisciplinary approach), studying both current and fossil materials from terrestrial and marine environments. Our group has an experience for more of 30 years in stable isotope analysis of water, silicates, phosphates, carbonates, nitrates, sulphates, sulfur, organic matter, DIC, DOC, dissolved gases and individual organic compounds. Which are being applied to both basic and applied science related with different disciplines: geology, biology, environment, archeology, food traceability, oceanography, etc. The group and lab leader is Antonio Delgado ([email protected] ).

The centerpieces of our stable isotope lab are 7 Thermo-Finnigan gas ratio mass spectrometers: Delta V Plus, Delta Plus XP, 3 Delta XL and Finnigan MAT 251. The spectrometers have multiple inlet devices for the analysis of stable isotopes (13 C/12 C, 18 O/16 O, 17 O/16 O, 15 N/14 N, 34 S/32 S, 36 Ar/40 Ar, 38 Ar/40 Ar and D/H). Additionally, the Delta V Plus has been specifically built with 11 Faraday cups for very precise analysis of the ratios of dissolved gases (O2 /Ar, N2 /Ar, O2 /N2 ). Other two laser system (Picarro G1101-I and DLT-100 Los Gatos Research) are used for isotopic analysis of CO2 and water. Our laboratory consists of a large room where mass spectrometers are located, and 3 laboratories dedicated to sample preparation
