Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 19 Jun 2022

We are looking for highly motivated young researchers to participate in a twistronics project within an international team of physicists and engineers. The exciting and challenging goal of the Twins project is to create a tunable spin switch based on 2-dimensional materials such as graphene.

In this project, the predoctoral researcher intends to understand, study, measure, and control the spin transport in a device composed uniquely by a couple of 2D electrodes rotated between them. The control over the angle formed allows switching on/off the spin transport, or simply regulating it, as is shown in the figure.

Suitable candidates must have a bachelor's degree in non-European University and a master's degree in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Scientific Instrumentation, Electronic or similar.

A predoctoral contract with a duration of 4 years will be offered to the candidate. The tasks of the selected candidate will include the electrical transport experiments at low temperature or room conditions via break junctions approaches.

The contract is expected to start in September 2022. All the suitable applicants should be addressed to Dr. Carlos Sabater, a complete CV, and a cover letter to the following e-mail: [email protected] . We will communicate to the candidate the admittance to the shortlist before 20 of June.

At the Department of Applied Physics of the University of Alicante, we enjoy a collaborative and vibrant research atmosphere in condensed matter physics and materials science.
