Call for Postdoctoral Researcher in Virtual Reality and Haptics at Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea

Haptics and Virtual Reality Laboratory at Kyung Hee University, South Korea invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge projects in the field of haptics, specifically exploring the design and development of haptic rendering algorithms, haptic modeling, and haptic interfaces for virtual/augmented reality and telemanipulation applications. The starting date of the position is flexible within Q1 and 2 in 2023. 


- Required Qualifications

     -A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Mechatronics or a related field with a focus on haptics, VR, AR, computer graphics, robotics, and human computer interaction

     -Publications in relevant conference and journals

     -Experiences on designing and implementing a haptic system including both hardware and software components (with proficiency in relevant programming languages)

     -Ability to work independently and as a leader of a research team


- Funding projects

The successful candidate will take a leading role of one of the following projects in the lab, which will be determined based on the candidate’s expertise. 

     -Stable and transparent tactile feedback sharing for bilateral telemanipulation

     -Data-driven haptic modeling and haptic contents generation

     -Haptic properties virtualization and delivery for digital twin 


- Duties and responsibilities

     -Conducting cutting-edge research in the field of haptics and VR

     -Take a leading role for the funding project including leading graduate students, managing/developing deliverables, writing papers/report, and communicating with collaborators
