The ffects of natural substances on the microscopic structure of selected organs of model animals in vivo

Abstract
Plant extracts have a number of biological effects. In addition to the positive effects, there are a number of other side effects. Scientific research in this area is based on documented examples of the consumption of bioactive substances in natural products and plants with therapeutic applications in the treatment of various diseases and is promising evidence for the invention of new therapies. For example, 1,1-dimethylbiguanidine is an active component of the drug used in DM therapy - metformin and is developed from guanidine from Galega officinalis. The dissertation will deal with the analysis of the effects of several biologically active substances on the microscopic structure of selected organs of model animals in in vivo conditions. Several plant extracts will be used (buckthorn, dogwood, perga, sea buckthorn, Peruvian watercress) administered to rabbits and ZDF rats per os. The individual stages of the work will be focused on experiments clarifying the effects of selected substances on qualitative, quantitative, cellular and molecular indicators.
Scientific objectives:
(1) Description of qualitative structures, microscopic structures, alterations;
(2) quantification of structures based on morphometric methods,
(3) detection of cellular and molecular changes by fluorescence methods.
Methodological objectives: Experimental work requires an in vivo experiment using rabbits and ZDF rats, determination of the effect of administered substances by florescence methods, and morphometric methods. The work will use the equipment of the laboratories of the Institute of Applied Biology, FBP, SPU in Nitra and the AgroBioTech center.
Expected benefits: The result of the work will be the determination of the specification of the effect of several plant extracts on the structural indicators of selected organs of model animals.
Účinky prírodných látok na mikroskopickú štruktúru vybraných orgánov modelových zvierat in vivo
Abstrakt
Rastlinné extrakty majú množstvo biologických účinkov. Okrem pozitívnych účinkov, je množstvo ďalších vedľajších účinkov. Vedecký výskum v tejto oblasti je založený na zdokumentovaných príkladoch konzumácie bioaktívnych látok v prírodných produktoch a rastlinách s terapeutickými aplikáciami v liečbe rôznych chorôb a je sľubným dôkazom pre vynájdenie nových terapií. Napríklad 1,1-dimetylbiguanidín je aktívnym komponentom liečiva používaného pri terapii DM – metformínu a je vyvinutý z guanidínu z jastrabiny lekárskej (Galega officinalis). Dizertačná práca sa bude zaoberať analýzou vplyvov viacerých biologicky aktívnych látok na mikroskopickú štruktúru vybraných orgánov modelových zvierat v podmienkach in vivo. Použité budú viaceré rastlinné extrakty (jarabina oskorušová, drieň obyčajný, perga, rakytník rešetliakový, žerucha peruánska) podávané králikom a ZDF potkanom per os. Jednotlivé etapy práce budú zamerané na experimenty objasňujúce efekty vybraných látok na kvalitatívne, kvantitatívne, celulárne a molekulárne ukazovatele.
Vedecké ciele:
Metodické zámery: Experimentálne práce vyžadujú in vivo pokus s použitím králikov a ZDF potkanov, stanovenie účinku podávaných látok florescenčnými metódami, a morfometrickými metódami. V práci sa využije prístrojové vybavenie laboratórií Ústavu aplikovanej biológie, FBP, SPU v Nitre a centra AgroBioTech.
