Offer Description
Research on new methods for the treatment and recycling of nutrients from food wastewater by physical and biotechnical methods
Supervisor: prof.Ing.Ľuboš Jurík, PhD.
Workplace: Institute of Landscape Engineering
Field of study: Agriculture and Landscaping
Study program: Landscape Engineering
Form of study: full-time / part-time
Thesis:
Eutrophication is one of the most serious factors reducing the usability of surface water and groundwater. Nitrogen and phosphorus and other nutrients in aquatic habitats enter waters from a variety of sources and are sensitive to environmental threats through changes in water quality through eutrophication, saprobation or contamination. Source of threat is primarily inadequately treated wastewater. Nutrients are a very important element of the economics of crop production. Nutrient prices and availability are now becoming problematic and scarce. European policy documents call for effective methods to recycle nutrients into forms that can be directly and easily applied in agriculture.
Rationale:
Appropriate economically and technologically efficient practices can ensure the recovery of nutrients from food industry wastewater when addressing wastewater treatment processes and technologies. The possibility of recovering the nutrient effluents is very much needed in the future when developing modern processes in the food or milk processing industry. The disadvantage is the high content of organic matter, proteins, fats and micro-organisms in food wastewater. This problem is still unresolved and the technological methods do not yield sufficient results and are economically and energetically costly. Dairies are also left with large quantities of whey with no economic use. The possibilities of using physical and biotechnological methods are coming to the fore.
The aim of the doctoral dissertationwill be to analyse the parameters of the output values of wastewater from selected dairies producing a wide range of products - from milk, butter cream through yoghurt and cheese or acidophilic products. All have specific impact on wastewater pollution. To address the work, laboratory and semi-operational experiments using selected plant species applicable to nutrient recycling need to be established. To ensure the utilization of plants, it is necessary to solve modern methods of physical pretreatment and to study the specific effects of other wastewater constituents on the biomass production of selected plants through biochemical processes. Modern biochemical and physicochemical approaches will be used for the analyses. The work will result in the design of an efficient method for nutrient recycling from wastewaters with afore-mentioned origin.

Výskum nových postupov zaobchádzania a recyklácie živín z odpadových vôd z potravinárstva fyzikálnymi a biotechnickými metódami
Školiteľ: prof. Ing. Ľuboš Jurík, PhD.
Pracovisko: Ústav krajinného inžinierstva
Študijný odbor: Poľnohospodárstvo a krajinárstvo
Študijný program: Krajinné inžinierstvo
Forma: denná /externá
Tézy:
Eutrofizácia vôd je jedným z najvážnejších faktorov znižujúcich možnosť využívania povrchových a podzemných vôd. Do vôd sa z najrozličnejších zdrojov dostávajú dusík a fosfor a iné živiny a Vodné biotopy a citlivo reagujú na ohrozenie prostredia zmenami kvality vody eutrofizáciou, saprobizáciou alebo kontamináciou. Zdrojmi ohrozenia sú predovšetkým nedostatočne vyčistené odpadové vody. Živiny sú pritom veľmi významným prvkom ekonomiky rastlinnej produkcie. Ceny živín a ich dostupnosť sa v súčasnosti stávajú problematickými a málo dostupnými. Európske strategické dokumenty vyzývajú k riešeniu efektívnych postupov na recykláciu živín do foriem priamo a jednoducho aplikovateľných v poľnohospodárstve.
Zdôvodnenie:
Vhodná a ekonomicky a technologicky efektívne postupy môžu zabezpečiť získanie živín z odpadových vôd z potravinárskeho priemyslu pri riešení procesov a technológií čistenia odpadových vôd. Do popredia vystupujú možnosti využívania fyzikálnych a biotechnologických postupov.
Cieľom doktorandskej dizertačnej práce bude analyzovať parametre výstupných hodnôt odpadových vôd z vybraných mliekarní spracúvajúcich širokú paletu výrobkov – od mlieka, masla smotany cez jogurty a syry či acidofilné produkty.
