Offer Description
Evaluation of the Survival Rate of New Tree Plantings in an Urbanized Environment
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Katarína Miklášová, PhD.
Workplace: Institute of Landscape Architecture
Field of study: Agriculture and Landscape
Study program: Landscape and Garden Architecture
Form of study: external
Theses:
The assessment of greenery in cities is a long-term, never-ending process. In recent years, tree planting has been carried out in several Slovak cities as part of various projects and foundations. Planting is often carried out unsystematically, and the subsequent maintenance and care of newly planted trees is at a minimal, necessary level. The aim of the dissertation is a comprehensive evaluation of new plantings in a selected model site from a biotechnical, health and aesthetic point of view. Knowing the sources of disturbing influences and the mechanisms of their action on trees is very important for the stabilization and maintenance of trees in an urbanized environment. Therefore, it is necessary to focus in more detail on individual risk factors and the mechanisms of their impact on woody plants. The output of the dissertation will be new, original findings about the state of new plantings within the urbanized environment. Evaluation of the survival rate and determination of negative effects on the health status and vitality of new plantings will lead to the design of measures that will contribute to improving the quality of care for new tree plantings in an urbanized environment.
Rationale:
Trees in an urbanized environment have its irreplaceable place from a hygienic, ecological and, last but not least, aesthetic point of view. Their multifunctional mission cannot be replaced. New plantings in cities increase biodiversity and improve the quality of the environment in urbanized areas. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the rate of survival of newly planted trees, to identify and evaluate the impact of adverse factors affecting new plantings. Hypothetically, it can be said that the main factors influencing the survival of new plantings include drought and low maintenance level, which ultimately can be among the determining factors of the survival rate of new plantings. The benefit of the conducted research will be the design of biotechnical measures that will lead to the elimination of adverse environmental effects and thereby contribute to increasing the survival rate of newly planted urban trees.

Zhodnotenie miery prežívania nových výsadieb stromov v urbanizovanom prostredí
Školiteľ: doc. Ing. Katarína Miklášová, PhD.
Pracovisko: Ústav krajinnej architektúry
Študijný odbor: Poľnohospodárstvo a krajinárstvo
Študijný program: krajinná a záhradná architektúra
Nové výsadby v mestách zvyšujú biodiverzitu a skvalitňujú životné prostredie v urbanizovanom priestore.
